Been adapting to the new schedules and everything. Im glad im feeling much better than in the few days after orientation. On the first day of Orientation there was already a GP test. Got into the accelerated program for GP. Its like damn chim. Means for GP lessons, I am seperated from my class, which was a bit unsettling at first. But it turned out okay in the end; my group is nice. Although (as usual) I am the only boy in the group. The proportion of males to females in SAJC is like... 0.3:1 ? For the Arts Faculty its like.. 0.2:1 ... or something. Anyway the accelerated GP program.. sometimes it takes me some time to understand and register what the teacher is talking about. Its like too complicated sometimes. I wonder why the world cant be more simple..

For some reason the accelerated GP classes seem extremely "civilized".. i don't know how to describe it. Its a feeling i feel. Its not a bad thing.. but a good change. Anyway from there I finally discovered someone who lives very near me and goes to SAJC also. Its like just down the street.. less than 100m away straight line distance. Its good to know Im not the only one living this far from SA. Phew.

Its not too bad after all, making new friends and all. Even though almost everyone said I made the wrong decision in coming to SA, cause:

1. Its (very) far from my house.
2. Theres (only) 3 people from Ngee Ann (including me) going there.
3. I only knew 1 person there before I entered.

But I believe Im supposed to be there. So far there are many situations in which I think God has prepared for me beforehand. My class is 07A02, and its alright, although there are some jokers in class(this is not meant in a bad way). But the class is rather clique-ish.

JC life is rather hectic at times, but so far of course its still manageable. Anyway for today's Econs test I think I will fail... I knew how to do the questions but i spent too much time on part (a) and was only left with about 10 mins for part (b). And I only wrote 3 pages altogether. Guess next time I have to write faster.

As for catching up with 3 months of work, Im still on my way. But its okay now i guess. I still have some math stuff left to catch up though. And physical geography. And balancing 2 music lessons with JC is rather delicate but still manageable. But when cell group starts in April.. I hope I will be able to cope. Im running for sports day next Friday. No choice, since there are only 6 boys in class including me. No choice.. hope i dont let my class down. : /

Guess thats about it for now.. there's alot more but no time for it. Shall take my leave now. (:

PS: I coloured the first few phrases of each paragraph to make the words easier to read. I think when I edit this template (not the image but the template, the code itself) in the future Im going to make the font a bit bigger..

JAE 2007

I finally got back my Joint Admissions Exercise posting today. And as expected, I didn't get into Tamasek Junior College. After all, a 10-pointer wouldn't stand much chance of getting in there.

Instead, I got into St. Andrews Junior College(SAJC) (Arts Stream). The truth is even though SAJC is okay, the problem is that it is soooooooo damn far from my house. -_- Now I am gonna waste so much time on transport... shuffling here and there in between. :(

The worse thing is I have school tomorrow. Call me naive but it was totally unexpected.. i expect school to start after the march holidays. Now school starts tmr and i'm not mentally prepared for it..

Tomorrow will probably be orientation and stuff.. I hope it won't be too long that I can't go to music clef. Craps, this event was totally unexpected.. its so sad. :(

And I will have to explore tmr how to go home from SAJC. The nearest MRT station is Potong Pasir.. dots.

Anyways enough complaining.. to all those that are wondering why I havent updated my blog.. its simply because i have nothing much to write except for about the Japan Trip (which i am in no mood to write about, currently) but once JC starts Ill surely have things to write about, so yea. :) Actually even if JC didn't stuff I would still have things to write about, but o well, no mood to write anything.

So there.. Ill be reporting at SAJC tmr at 7:30am.. :'(

O yea, and before i forget to mention, i don't know anyone there at all besides Tiffany from church and so Ill have to make new friends. Im all alone in SAJC for now :'(

2006 Japan Trip (7th-27th December) + Uncle Ben's Family [PART III]

Blog News - Valentine's Day 2007
Note: The actual Valentine's Day is on 14th February.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone in advance ( : I tweaked the template to produce a special LunarTwilight Valentine's Day '07 Edition. By this time, we are already in Hokkaido, and on the 15th we left Hakodate (the port city) for further up north - to Otaru City. We stayed in the outskirts of the city. Then after staying in the city for 3 days and 2 nights we travelled to Niseko. The 3rd Part only covers our time in Otaru City, which was mainly on the 15th and 16th as on 17th we left Otaru for Niseko. On the way, we took some pictures of the bay and passed a canal.

Squid fishing boats. We had dinner at the hotel (it was part of the hotel package) and then retired for the day.

______________________

16th December, Saturday
Original Area: Otaru
Destination: No Change
Driving: None
Lodging: Asari Classe Hotel (http://www.classe-hotel.com)

16th December, Saturday

On Saturday, we remained at Otaru and did no driving - we went skiing at the Asari Ski Jose. Finally I got to ski again - it had been a very long time since I had skied. Anyway since it was the first time Sarah and Timothy were skiing, XP and me had to teach them. So we didn't really go on the chairlifts at the Asari Ski Jose, since the whole day was spent teaching them. Skiing is a very tiring and time consuming activity.

We spent the whole day at the Ski Jose. Sarah and Timothy did not use the chairlifts at this Ski Jose as they were not yet experienced enough. We only owned 3 pairs of skis (we did not want to waste money renting), so Sarah and Timothy took turns. However, we did rent a sled. Although me and XP both didn't get to use it, since the rest were not on skis.

Me and Timothy performing the "crab walk" up the slope.

Me helping Timothy up after he fell down.

Group shot from left to right: XP, Tim, me.

Group shot from left to right: XP, Sarah, me. I scored 17 points better than the l1r5 in my prelims, for which I thank God. Actually even though I wish I got better marks for my Os, I don't really think I deserve the marks I got, since I was slacking a lot before the Os and during the Os itself, playing computer games on the actual days of many of my O Level Examinations. Anyway thank God for His grace and mercy.

So where am I going now after this big hurdle? I guess I'll definitely try Tamasek Junior College (TJC) but I don't really think I'll be able to get in. So St. Andrews JC will be my next choice, then Meridian, and then Anderson and Nanyang I guess.

Thanks to all the people who prayed for me, all the teachers who taught me, and my parents and brother who supported me, and last but not least all my friends who also helped me and gave me support.

So I wonder which path to take; now is the time for me to decide.

The next Japan Trip post is still in the works. Fortunately, it did not snow. Yes, we were fortunate that it did not snow. This is because if it snowed, we would have trouble travelling the mountain roads. Only one of the cars, Uncle Ben's Honda Odyssey, had four wheel drive. Our Honda Odyssey did not have four wheel drive. (If you didn't know, four wheel drive is particularly important in snowy countries or if you want to travel through mud. Normal cars are typically two wheel drive, which means power is only sent to the back wheel. In four wheel drive, power is sent to all the wheels, enabling the car to travel up steep snowy/muddy slopes and over snowy/muddy ground easier as all the wheels receive power.) Anyway, we left Oriase Keiryu Grand Hotel at around 8am.

The picture above shows the condition of the roads at that time. It was not bad, even though it was icy. It could have been worse, especially if it snowed. Notice that there are no lamp posts so it would be dangerous travelling from 3:45pm onwards (the Sun sets really early here). However, look in front and you'll see a weird "post" you don't see in Singapore.. its an arrow pointing downwards. Its purpose: if the snow is too deep or its at night, you will know where the road is, also if the road curves you won't keep going straight and fall down the slope, which would be a disaster. (Yes, the snow can be damn deep.)

On the way to the Aomori Harbour, we also stopped by the road to take some pictures. The scenery was overwhelming; God's creation is great.

Breathtaking scenery along the road - you should open it in a new window to see it big. It was rather misty and foggy at this particular stretch of road. We also stopped to take this picture. Actually the picture above and this picture were taken at the same place. The one before this was facing the left side of the road, and this one is facing the right.

Then after this stretch of road which was relatively flat, the road led to more mountainous areas again. We stopped at a viewing point. Sarah was having a headache around here, because of the turns and curves and ups and downs of the mountain road.

Me in knee deep snow at the viewing point on the way to Aomori Harbour.

After going through all of the roads and etc, we finally reached Aomori Harbour at around 10:30am. Since the ferry was leaving at 12:30pm and we had time to spare, we went for lunch in Aomori town. After that, we walked around Aomori. Then, at 12:00pm, we lined up in front of the ferry to board.

This type of ferry is a special ferry that can also carry cars and trucks. You drive the car in, park it and then go upstairs. The ferry would bring us to Hakodate in Hokkaido.

For those who don't know, Hokkaido is the northern island of Japan. Honshu (where Tokyo is located) is the main and middle island.

Just to show you the main islands of Japan. Notice Aomori at the north of the main Honshu island.. we are travelling to Hakodate by ferry. Hakodate is not shown on the map, but it is quite a big coastal city in Hokkaido.

Queuing up for the ferry. The black Honda Odyssey is Uncle Ben's rented car. The silver-grey Honda Odyssey is ours. You can compare the size of the ferry to the size of the car. Also, notice there is less snow here. Its because Aomori is a town and they cleared the snow... there's also less snowfall at this point in time.

Okay we then boarded the ferry. It was quite boring except for the scenery. We spent most of our time playing bridge and other card games.

The 4 musketeers without 1 musketeer. I was the photographer. This was on the ferry. It was extremely windy.

The spray of the ferry is damn long.. since the ferry is also very large. It was a long and uneventful ferry ride. But I did feel a bit queasy at times.

After the ferry ride, we went back downstairs and drove the car out of the ferry. By this time it was already dark as it was 4pm plus. After driving and parking, we bought them to Hakodate Hill. This was the 3rd time I returned there. To get to the top of Hakodate Hill quickly, you can take cable car. The ride is about 10 minutes.

By the way there was no snow in Hakodate - even though it is further up north, there was no snow. This is because of natural factors, such as mountains, being near the coast, etc.

The view from the top of Hakodate Hill at 5:08pm. Breathtaking scenery of Hakodate city. I encourage you to open it in a new window to see the details.

After visiting Hakodate Hill, we checked in with our old friends at Pension Yumekukan. We would be staying there for the night.

The Pension Yumekukan, where we lived. It may be a pension but inside is damn nice. Typical of Japanese. A pension in Japan is very nice inside compared to some other countries - clean and nice, cosy and warm. Even though its only a pension. And excellent service.

After checking into the pension and bringing our baggage into our nice, albeit tiny rooms, we went out for dinner. Hakodate is a port city with a long history. And sushi here is really cheap since its a port city, and its very fresh. The sushi is way better compared to Tokyo, of course. (Actually in the market you can get to eat sushi that is still moving but its already dead. I've tried it. It can be gross to some people.) So we went to a sushi restruant.

Tim and XP acting lame pointing to all the delicious menu items. Its about my return to Japan last year. For those who don't know, I lived in Japan about 3.5 years and I return there almost every year, since its the land of my childhood.

Well this time we went with Uncle Ben's family, and it was a really enjoyable time. Just to outline, this Japan trip consisted of landing in Tokyo's Narita Airport, cleaning up the house and etc, and then making up our way (by driving instead of train) all the way to Hokkaido, then driving all the way back down.

The first few days me and XP had to stay at home in Tokyo and just mooch around cleaning up the house and going around the roads and stuff.. it gave us a very melancholy feeling. Nothing much was done these few days - and Uncle's Ben family had not arrived yet.

______________________

8th - 11th December
Original Area: Tokyo
Destination: No Change
Driving: None
Lodging: Yoyogi Home/ Shinjuku

11th December, Monday
Once Uncle Ben's family arrived, it became more hectic - we picked them up from their hotel on the 11th of December, 2006. Thereafter, we proceeded to Yoyogi Park, where we took a walk.

Yoyogi Park with its Autumn scenery and us taking a walk.
(We live near Yoyogi Park.)

Then we went for some lame tree climbing since we were bored.

Lame tree climbing.. Because we could not fit all our baggage into 2 cars, there was some delay as Uncle Ben's family unpacked and repacked. We also wasted alot of time on the Tohoku Expressway, turning around in circles as we got out of the route the Global Positioning System (GPS) in the car had planned for us. But in the end we still reached. We did nothing much in Sendai; just walked around the city and ate dinner there.

Us in Sendai in front of the Hotel. But before we reached the snowy parts, on the way north, we visited Izunuma Lake. (This lake did not have snow at that time though.) And we fed the ducks, swans, and other animals there with some bread. We also managed to see an eagle.

Izunuma Lake; birds, swans, ducks and all.

After travelling further north, we saw first glimpses of snow beside the highway. This is when Tim and Sarah started to get excited.

The highway after Izunuma Lake. Notice that the sides of the road have snow... this was the first glimpse of snow.

Still on the way to Towadako. This is when there was more snow, but still not much. The snow at this area was only mainly on the mountains. Eventually, snow would cover the entire landscape.

Okay, now see the difference. There is much more snow now. Im trying to show you how it looks like when a place has no snow... slowly changing to a place that has snow. Still, the snow here is not much by Japanese standards.. its extremely little.

Eventually, the whole landscape was covered with snow. When we were nearing our destination, after getting off the highway, we stopped at one viewing point to take some pictures. We also stopped by an apple juice shop, where they sell apple products, since this is a place where they grow apples. Its very, very nice. I tried the juice - extremely sweet and no added sugar. As a matter of fact - the apple itself is way more sweeter than the juice.

One of the pictures taken at the viewing point. Notice the piled snow which is dirty at the side of the roads. Even for such a deserted place (its not a city, its a very small town), Japanese are notoriously efficient... even when it comes to small things like clearing snow off mountain roads, since its unsafe for cars. One of the things I like about Japan - efficiency. (Forgive me if I am pointing out something very weird to you. Its piled snow, after all.)

Okay after the journey, we finally reached Towadako! We visited a place with waterfalls; the river that runs through there. No one comes in winter to visit this place, therefore, we were the only people around except for the construction workers. But the construction workers were really nice to us and helped us break the ice on the steps. Even so, my mum still fell and slipped. It was very, very slippery.

One of the waterfalls. Notice the signboard on the right. Guess the meanings, if you know Chinese. (: You would already know the meanings if you know Japanese.

The river after the waterfall. The place looks so.. desolate. It will look much better in spring, summer, or autumn.

Gingerly making their way down the icy steps.. if you fall, it will be very painful. the construction worker is helping chip the ice away. Besides them, we were the only people there.

After visiting the waterfall, we checked into the hotel - Oriase Keiryu Grand Hotel. Once again, we were one of the only people there. It was out of season.. normally people only come in summer. Or spring, or autumn.

The front of Oriase Keiryu Grand Hotel at 4:05 pm.

After eating a Japanese dinner (included as part of the hotel package) and hot spring and etc etc.. we went to sleep. Before that though, we wore the traditional Japanese dress...

Group photo in traditional Japanese dress at Oriase Keiryu Grand Hotel, 13th Dec 2006.

Oki, thats the end of Part I. Astounding. (Of course the accuracy of the study may be questioned and it is commissioned by Microsoft, but definitely, there will be new jobs created due to Vista's launch.)

Anyway Im not getting Vista anytime soon; its still full of bugs. (In my opinion.) And it is pretty expensive, at around US$239 for a Home Premium. It is preferable that one waits till the end of the year when more bugs are fixed. Also, it needs 2GB of RAM to run well. Vista occupies roughly three times more space than Windows XP. In fact, it'll require up to a whopping seven gigabytes of drive space.

In the screenshot below, notice the paging file size: Vista uses about 820MB. If you want to see how XP compares, go to the task manager in Windows XP and click the Performance tab. Therefore, to upgrade to Vista, you would definitely need to buy more memory... and more money goes into the hands of memory manufacturers.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_KmLmJkMd6ME/RcFRqe_y8xI/AAAAAAAAAAM/xZVpVljyVwQ/s400/ramvista.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5026388449439183634" />

I guess all this memory is also needed to run the new Aero Glass Effects after all. The Youtube video below shows the new Aero Glass Effects and the interface.

If you notice (and most people have already), the "Start" button has been replaced by a Windows Logo, similar to Apple's Mac. Microsoft was probaly tired of the old joke whereby one had to start in order to shut down.

Regardless of the new features including improved security, I think it would be best to wait for the bugs to be fixed before you buy a copy of Vista. And of course, you'll have buy some new hardware since Vista is very demanding on your computer.

Anyway, lets hope all the bugs in Vista will be solved soon. (:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_KmLmJkMd6ME/RcFboe_y8yI/AAAAAAAAAAY/rqyJDx_mNhg/s400/Windows_Vista_Ultimate_Box.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5026399410195723042" />

I'm Back...... After A Real Long Break

Okay Im finally back... after a really long 3 month break.
And I finally finished this new skin.. which seemed to take me forever to do. At least I still finished right on schedule though; its the 31st of January today, right on time.
Thanks to all who waited. ( :
I still need to update some code though, so in the next few days I might twiddle the blog code here and there, adding new links and stuff... i think this is the best skin I have "stolen and edited" so far.

Anyway nothing much really happened since I came back from Japan. Im just sitting around at home practicing piano all day; its boring. Japan was great though - I learnt a new sport - Snowboarding. Of course, the food was great.. and we had a great time. But of course I missed people in Singapore and Singapore food. There were new experiences, too. Such as driving the car into a ferry that can hold many cars.. then the ferry bringing us from the main island of Japan Honshu to the northern island Hokkaido.

One thing really nice about Japan was the weather; it was simply great. In Hokkaido, however, the snow was really heavy, and there were two instances where we could not drive the car up a slope because of the thick snow on the ground. In some areas, the snow reached up to about 1 metre. Snowfall was also heavy, especially in Niseko.

Ever since I came back to Singapore Ive been feeling very warm.. even though its supposed to be the rainy season. Now, of course, the dry season is about to start: the weather prediction for the next month is dry and windy.

I'll be getting back my GCE "O" Level results soon, and I hope i do well enough.. anyway, I'm off to do more blog tweaking.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lunartwilight-.blogspot.com/2007/01/im-back-after-real-long-break.html' title='I'm Back...... Since the two science subjects I am taking are Chemistry and Physics, Im taking practical examinations for them. And today was the Chemistry Practical Exam. Which was unfortunately not too good.

Naturally one would feel nervous upon entering the lab. Our class had already practiced quite a lot of times for the Chemistry Practical Exam, unlike Physics, where we only had 2 practices. Usually the Pure Chemistry Exams would consist of 2 parts - titration and quantitative analysis.

The first disaster happened because I was so damn blur. The indicator they asked us to use was methyl orange. It was supposed to go into the aqueous sodium hydroxide. However, I saw the label on the bottle wrongly. Instead of putting methyl orange into the aqueous sodium hydroxide, I went and put acidified potassium dichromate (VI). Because acidified potassium dichromate (VI) and methyl orange look the same colour, I was blur enough to use the acidified potassium dichromate - and I forgot to read the label on the bottle. When I put the acidified potassium dichromate (VI) into the aqueous sodium hydroxide, the solution turned from colourless to yellow, instead of orange. So everyone around me had a orange solution in their conical flasks and I had a yellow solution. And so I tried again, but I was blur once again. Finally on the 3rd try I realised my mistake and by then I had already wasted a whole 15 minutes trying to figure out why the heck was my solution yellow instead of orange. After the disaster I then completed 3 more proper titrations. I hope they are accurate. And the calculations after that - I hope I got them correct.

QA was not very good, because it was very messy. I managed to finish every single step of course, but I could not firgure out the final answer. And I was blur again because in the final answer, where based on your experiments, you have to deduce the element in the metal, I gave them a complex ion. Which is obviously wrong.

So today was bad, and tommorrow is Pure Physics Practical. Hopefully I won't be so nervous and blur and will be able to do better the next round. Have tuition now, so Im going.

A Lame Quiz.

Okay I took this off Joan's blog and Michelle's Blog. Since both of them wrote that I should do this quiz, I guess Ill do it now, when I have the time. (:

4 names you go by: xiaowen, xw, ziao, swiss cheese (there are more, but nvm)
4 things that scare you: disgusting pictures, saying the wrong things, going to movies that are lousy(I know my standard very high), watching tv shows that are baad
4 things you are wearing right now: My clothes. What else? =.=
4 of your favorite bands or musical artists (at the moment): none. Im not a supporter of bands or artists. Im a supporter of good music, regardless of where it comes from. The current exception is mr brown's mee siam mai ham. If you don't understand about the mr brown part nvm.
4 things you want in a relationship (other than real love): commitment, understanding, integrity, and fun i guess.
4 truths: I usually watch the time, I usually and unfortunately forget birthdays or other important anniversaries('cept for m6's), I usually read when Im eating, and I don't watch television.
4 physical things that appeal to you (in the opposite sex): no comment. it varies anyway. Fufill my destiny. lol.
4 ways that you are stereotypically a dude/chick: sorry I don't understand this question. Can someone enlighten me ><>4 things you are thinking about now: how to type this, what to do later, what time should I sleep later, and what stuff to pack later
4 stores you shop at: I don't shop.
4 people who should do this: No one actually. ( :

Okay la so the quiz is a bit lame but anyway I sort of finished it ><>< These few days never blog, cause Im too tired. Anyway Im going. Overall, it was a fun and enriching experience.

The main component of the youth camp was the services, also introducing the vision and etc stuff, and also giving the new youth pastor a chance to introduce herself somewhat. The extra was the treasure hunt, free time and crap.. yup. In the grouping, they also split up members who knew each other very well so that the newer and older members could mix.. but unfortunately it didn't happen much.. lol. Also a lot of lovey-dovey rumours were around, which is unfortunate too =.= I don't think I need to elaborate. Yup. It can get a bit annoying but have to take it in stride I guess.

Anyway I actually don't feel like writing now cause I don't feel well. After coming back from the youth camp, I had a slight fever, then had to wake up early on Sunday to go to church early cause there was practice. Then coming back, there was some soccer thing, and a whole lot of people were in the house just now after the soccer to eat dinner. Then after that, they left, except for Nats who watched some videos.

So what about the youth camp? It was a success I guess. I hope that the youth will continue to grow. And now Im going to sleep soon, tommorrow morning I have tuition again.

Teacher's Day

So finally, today is Teachers Day. Well, woke up in the morning, reached school at 9am, and then had teachers day celebrations from 9pm - 12pm. For once, the celebrations were quite fun, and we even got to see Mr Chua, the principal, crapping. =.= It was lame.

Anyway, after the celebration, a large group, consisting of Samuel Tung, Jonathan Koh, Kenneth Koh, Sean, Terry, and Timothy John came over. (I think thats the full group, I hope I didn't forget anyone.) They crapped on the drumset in the house etc. With XP and me of course.. then after that, had piano lesson.

In essence, that was my day today. lol. I won't write much cause its really late now.

Okay, so tommorrow is the church youth camp. Finally. Looking forward to it. But unfortunately, I haven't pack finish.

Okay then, happy Teachers Day to everyone and especially to all dedicated teachers : D

Bored Here.

Nothing much happened today; the whole day was spent at home. In the earlier part of the day, I had tuition, later, I spent time finishing my tuition homework (which was a lot) and I failed to finish.. Im sick of it == At least I only have a few questions left, but they are difficult questions (A Maths). I guess Ill just do them tommorrow.

Teacher's day tommorrow, and I haven't bought a single teacher a present, sadly. Thing is, I don't know what to buy, and more importantly, where to buy; since I don't like to go out, I hardly know all those shopping places. Im so sad : ( But paying tribute to teachers, yup. There are good teachers out there in my school and other places. And not only school teachers, music teachers or tuition teachers are classified under teachers - teachers can even be your own friends teaching you something new, be it simply how to do a maths problem sum or rollerblading, to drums, etc. So a big thank you to teachers that have contributed good things to my life so far.

Anyway Im not looking forward to getting back my prelim results; my school is confirm not moderating so Im in trouble. And Im really bored here starting studying again right after prelims. Sigh.

Hopefully Friday's youth retreat will come quickly.

Just For Fun

Okay yesterday I tried this quiz on Blogthings titled "What Do You Think Of Your Friends?" and although some parts of the results were accurate, most of it was crap. You were supposed to match a friend that you had to quickly think of to the colour or food given. Since the instructions said not to think too much about it and do it quickly I did so, and the quiz was finished under the time span of 1 minute. Anyway, the results:

What You Really Think Of Your Friends

None is your soulmate.

You truly love Jun Lin.

You consider Natasha your true friend.

You know that Vick is always thinking of you.

You'll remember Jun Wen for the rest of your life.

You secretly think Michelle Tung is creative, charming, and a bit too dramatic at times.

You secretly think that Samuel Tung is colorful, impulsive, and a total risk taker.

You secretly think that Darren is loyal and trustworthy to you. And that Darren changes lovers faster than underwear.

You secretly think Kenneth is shy and nonconfrontational. And that Kenneth has a hidden internet romance.

What Do You Think of Your Friends?

As you can see most of the results are crap. The reason why "None" is your soulmate was because I could not think of any friend that represented white, except for Natasha, but then in the end because of time I just put none, and also because you aren't supposed to write down two same names. Which is fortunate anyway, because a name in the Soul Mate one would be a joke. For the "truly love Jun Lin" part I was thinking red represented blood and not love =.= and so I didn't know it would come out to be like this. lol. And the rest? I just put their names matching the colour or food that I felt most suited them at that time. Some turned out to be slightly correct: e.g samuel tung (colourful, not scared to take risks, I dont know about impulsive cuz Ive never seen it) michelle tung (slightly dramatic I think? I still dunno lol, about the rest, depends on the situation) natasha (true friend) jun wen (m6, and in essence all m6). Kenneth, Vick and Darren? Im not sure. I don't really think so. How would I know if Darren changes lovers faster than underwear. =.= And Kenneth's one is wrong of course, especially about hidden internet romance. I don't think he found a girlfriend on the roleplaying game Rakion. =.= How the heck I know about Vick.. but it sounds so wrong and I think its somewhat crap too. =.=

My conclusion? Take this quiz only if you are bored and in need of some entertainment. Otherwise, its useless. (: Just for entertainment purposes. Don't trust the results. :)

Typical Weekend.

Okay nothing much to write about the weekend. Typical. Went for music practice on Saturday, played for Church on Sunday, etc. The cookies that we brought to church were snatched and eaten within 1 minute.. very few people managed to try them. lol ><

Just finished tuition. Even though all written preliminary examinations just ended, the O Levels is still round the corner, and I can't really let up in revision.. considering the dismal showing of my prelims. But there's no point in depressed or whatsoever over my prelim results when it comes out.. I also don't really wish to make this blog depressing anyway. :/ So just have to work hard I guess. And don't fall sick halfway.

This Friday is the church's Youth Camp during the September holidays. Looking forward to it. Im quite bored now too. Theres also another session for all musicians on September 9th I think. See how. Sadly, M6 session during September has to be postponed. : ( I hope can have an M6 soon. Talking about holidays, I think we're going to return to Japan this year. Uncle Ben's family should be joining us during the Japan trip for the hokkaido part I think. At least won't be just one family this year then.

Anyways Im going to sleep, usual routine.

The End signifies The Beginning.

Okay so the Prelims (excluding Practical Exams) ended. Lets go through and reflect on what happened.

- Wednesday 16/8 - English Language 1 & 2
Okay so I haven't gotten sick this time yet, but 2 days before I had the rashes thing and didnt sleep well. No excuses of course, but the performace for this paper was no good. The titles to write for Paper 1 were quite crappy. Edwin says Hyprocrisy(Question 5) was a good title but the truth is its difficult to write about because we're discouraged to write narratives. And my mind was to cloudy to think about deep stuff. In general, performance was way below average for these 2 papers.

- Thursday 17/8 - Elementary Maths 2, Chinese Language 1
Okay. E Maths Paper 2 was bad compared to SA1's. I screwed up with my time management. Don't ask about Chinese. All the titles to write about were absolutely crappy.. yeah its in my previous posts. If you wanna refresh, I was forced to write about whether doing communitiy service is good for students. (Okay how to write about that???) In general, performance was below average for E Maths Paper 2 and absolutely horrible (extremely real possibility of failing) for Chinese Paper 1.

- Friday 18/8 - Social Studies, Chinese Language 2
Okay I start with the words "okay" for this comment again, but no matter. Social studies was a meagre affair because the topics that I studied on did not come out much. Chinese Paper 2? Way worse than the O Lvl Mid Year one. Minus 12 marks already. Possibility of failing. In general, performance was below average for Social Studies and absolutely horrible (extremely real possibility of failing) for Chinese Paper 2.

- Monday 21/8 - Pure Chemistry 2, Additional Mathematics 1
Sick by Monday. My temperature was at 37.4 when I arrived in school. So I didn't study for Chem, not much anyway. Even though the paper was very, very easy compared to what they've been giving us normally, it was horrible. Cause I never study. Additional Mathematics, hampered. Bad time management. Okay basically its horrible too. In general, performance was far below average for Pure Chemistry 2 and very bad for (minute possibility of failing) Additional Mathematics 1.

- Tuesday 22/8 - Pure Physics 2
Im still sick with the viral infection. But at least Physics was a spark of hope for me. Nothing much to say, mostly because the paper was better than all the rest I had taken, even though I was sick. In general, performance is hopeful/quite good for Pure Physics 2.

- Wednesday 23/8 - Elementary Maths 1, Pure Chemistry 1
No comment. I freaked out during Elementary Maths 1. Teachers "evil" strategy: put extremely difficult questions at the start and easy ones at the back. Destroyed my confidence.. and also got gay questions like "what is the smallest number k when 120k is the smallest perfect sqaure?" Answer: 1/120. Lame sia! Some ppl spend so long thinking. I also get wrong answer. I put 1/30. I thought 4 is the smallest. No its 1 is the smallest perfect square. (1x1 = 1) Damn teme so blur. =.= As for Pure Chem 1, its so-so. I also never study much cause sick, but at least better than Chem Paper 2. In general, performance was below average for Elementary Maths 1 and average for Pure Chemistry 1.

- Thursday 24/8 - Pure Physics 1, Additional Mathematics 2
Still sick. Was super sweaty in the morning, don't know why. Did not wear jacket throughout Pure Physics 1. Pure Physics 1 was very tricky, and sadly, I had not enough time to check. But I hope I do well. I think it was okay? Additional Mathematics sucks to the max.. even worse than A Maths 1.. I don't know what to say. In general, performance was above average for Pure Physics 1 and terrible (possibility of failing) for Additional Mathematics 2.

- Friday 25/8 - Elective Geography
So-so. Extremely non-textbook questions with newspaper reports like Sands winning its bid in the Integrated Resort (IR) race coming out, and drought in Austraila (newspaper report). How unconventional. But I managed I guess, in spite of teachers cutting the exam time by 10 minutes because we were late to assemble. Why did that have to happen? In general, performance was average for Elective Geography.

So how did I fare for Prelims? I think its pretty bad. Yeah. I don't know whether I can make it below 20. :( Ill leave my marks and which JC to go to the Lord. The End of the Prelims means the Beginning of the Os is near.. have to gear up soon.. but not before taking a break first I guess?

Just to give an idea of whats happening, yesterday Nats Ken Nic came over to bake cookies and cakes with xp and me for the youth. Yups. I also repacked my entire study table yesterday from 2pm to 8pm and vaccumed the place.. cleaned the crap.. got rid of some incredible dust in the subwoofer.. etc. But havent finish with my cupboards and files. Perhaps Ill do that tommorrow or probaly, Monday.

Gonna go rest now. Take a break. Whew.

Viral Infection.

Okay I know why my fever is taking so long to recover liao. Its cause I have a viral infection, not just a common cold. I woke up with red spots on my arms today. Its still there although lesser now. Well I hope it goes away soon.

Today Physics Paper 1 so-so. I have no idea what Im going to get. But A Maths sucks. Totally ya. The questions very much harder and time-wasting than the first paper.

Okay Im not going to write much now because prelims (excluding practical) end tommorrow. Then I will have more free time. (:

But Im not looking forward to my results.

Tired. 38 Degrees?

Lol my fever is supposed to be gone by now but unfortunately it recurs now and then. Just now, it hit 38 degrees.. yesterday night, also pretty high (I think it was higher than 38). But Im feeling better. I hope this most annoying fever + ache crap goes away.

Okay so the prelims are two days away from ending (excluding the practical, but thats 2 weeks away so nvm) and hows the progress so far? Like crap. I think most other people feel the same way? If the school doesn't moderate (As far as I know I don't think they are going to.. yet) I wonder what my results will be like. Im not going to jump to conclusions before I see the results but ya erm I have doubts ya. Like whether even it will be below 15.. or 20. I was originally aiming for something like 11 or 12? (for prelims). Now like standard drop so much. There's still 2 days left though.

The mood amongst most Sec 4 Ngee Ann Secondary School blogs is also about the same. (at least for the blogs I have monitored, which is about 15). Almost all have referred to the prelims. Those who did not was because they didn't update.

Anyway Im very tired. Im drinking honey water now. I am also wishing that prelims end soon. Sleeping now.

Sick at the Wrong Time.

It is unfortunate that I fell sick at absolutely the wrong time - in the middle of the prelims. On Friday, everything was relatively fine in terms of my health, but come Saturday afternoon during tuition at jw/l's house I felt a little weak, but did not notice anything. By Saturday night, it was quite evident that I did not feel that well, and on Sunday the "bomb" struck. Once I got back from church I immediately slept all the way to about 4:45pm, was awake trying to study until about 7, and then slept again after eating dinner.. until 10:30pm. Headache, muscle ache and fever that reached a high of about 39.4 degrees. Of course there was weakness coupled with it. (You know when you are sick, you feel very weak.) Naturally, how was I supposed to study. ><. I don't think it would have been effective studying anyway. :/ Then after waking up at 10:30pm, I went to sleep again at 11:15pm.

Waking up on Monday(today), at 5am, my temperature had dropped to 37.4 degrees. So I studied chemistry from about 5:15am to 6;15am. Then I went back to sleep and then, an 1/2 hour later, left for school. Sadly, I had not much time to study. So I think I flunked my A Maths and even though Chemistry was supposed to be easy, because I could not remember a lot of stuff, I don't think I did too well either. I know Im supposed to study beforehand but the prelims, starting at 16th August, is a bit too early. Of course I should have worked hard during the June holidays though.

Now I don't even know whether I can even hit "15" for my L1R5 mark. I really want to go to the 3-month-JC course. Well, I will try my best still. My temeperature as of just now was 38.9 degrees. (increased again.) No choice, I will study my Physics regardless of this. Since Im not as weak as yesterday. My father said its important not to have a defeatist attitude. (like, give up.) I can only depend upon God now.

Surprising Stats + Prelims Update (Day 2)

Come to think of it, I havent released any statistics before. I think its time to give some information. The following data is actually quite interesting. It shows from whose site visitors most come from to this blog.

For example, Michelle's blog is in first place. This means that from her site, alot of people click the link to here and then arrive here.

By the way, right from the time I started this site meter, my own visits are not counted. (Yes, the current hit count does not include my own visits.) Also, if the person refreshes the page , no matter how many times he/she refreshes, it is still counted as 1 visit. Therefore, the ranking below should be fair. :)

1. <a href="http://clarify-.blogspot.com/"TARGET="_blank">http://clarify-.blogspot.com (Michelle's Blog) Share: 6.8%

2. <a href="http://yourebeinglovedbyqiuyin-.blogspot.com/"TARGET="_blank">http://yourebeinglovedbyqiuyin-.blogspot.com (Qiuyin's Blog) Share: 4.1%

3. <a href="http://happy-fool.blogspot.com/"TARGET="_blank">http://happy-fool.blogspot.com (HuiYi's Blog) Share: 3.4%

4. <a href="http://solitary-.blogspot.com/"TARGET="_blank">http://solitary-.blogspot.com (Monica's Blog) Share: 2.2%

5. <a href="http://spacemunkey.blogspot.com/"TARGET="_blank">http://spacemunkey.blogspot.com (Minru's Blog) Share: 2.1%

6. <a href="http://sillylollipop.blogspot.com/"TARGET="_blank">http://sillylollipop.blogspot.com (Denise's Blog) Share: 2.0%

7. <a href="http://www.google.com/"TARGET="_blank">http://www.google.com (Google) Share: 1.8%

8. <a href="http://funkyangel9220.blogspot.com/"TARGET="_blank">http://funkyangel9220.blogspot.com (Joan's Blog) Share: 1.0%

9. <a href="http://sonicjetsam.blogspot.com/"TARGET="_blank">http://sonicjetsam.blogspot.com (Samuel's Blog) Share: 0.9%

10. <a href="http://antic-.blogspot.com/"TARGET="_blank">http://antic-.blogspot.com (Jonathan's Blog) Share: 0.8%

*Blogs which have been closed down are not listed.
*I added up the percentage for the sites which have changed address before.

Surprise, surprise. Gratz to Mich for taking first place. lol.

Surprising performers are also: Jonathan and Samuel's blog, which are relatively new on the scene.

Anyway I think thats all the stats Ill release for now since I have no time.

+++

Prelims Update (Day 2):

Today's Prelims, E Maths Paper 2. Can be considered difficult. I also did not have enough time to finish. Im not optimistic.

Chinese Paper 1 = Disaster. Much more difficult than O levels. The topic I chose was about whether students benefited from doing community service. The other: Write a essay on the recent newspaper reports about next year's batch of O level Chinese students being able to use an electronic Chinese Dictionary. And the other: You have a good friend whom you are very close with etc etc. You unexpectedly fall out with this extremely good friend of yours. Write about your feelings. ( Is it? I also dunno if I understood the question correctly or remembered it correctly. If someone knows pls tag to tell me lol.)

I do not want to elaborate on the Chinese letter writing. It was quite terrible also.

Tommorrow's papers; Social Studies, Chinese Paper 2.

Prelims Start (Day 1)

Quite sians for the past few days. The day before today was GCE "O" Level English Oral. It was actually quite good even though I was like extremely tense and nervous before going into the room. (and I was also freezing.) But thank God that He helped me, and the teachers were quite interested in the conversation. One of them actually deviated from the actual topic lol. I guess Im cautiously optimistic.

On the other hand I think for my Preliminary Examinations - English Paper 1 and 2 was no good. Paper 1. Report format. Got errors. And was too stressed up during the examination. The summary was pretty difficult. Paper 1's topics were crappy.. and the letter writing question included a newspaper report within the question itself. Unexpected.

I got not much time to write. Tommorrow is E Maths Paper 2 and Chinese Paper 1. Why they put E Maths Paper 2 instead of Paper 1 first is a mystery. And my school's prelims start so early. Seriously, there's almost no time to finish studying.

Absolutely Sickening

Its sickening. Yesterday I only slept for 1 and a half hours. Why? I also dont know. Perhaps its something called stress. I went to bed at 11pm+. Tossed and turned around until 3:45am. By then I was already really pissed that i could not sleep. (Naturally) By this time I had begun to itch. Then when the itch finally got so damn annoying that I had to on the light and find out whats the problem, I discovered that my leg was covered in this most disgusting red sores that gave me the creeps. And it was spread out everywhere. Then I became paranoid, and in the end after grappling around I decided to go and wake up my father and ask him what it is.. lol. It turned out not to be seirous but its still very annoying. Then I managed to sleep finally.. until 6pm. So in the end I wasup the whole damn night, only finally falling asleep at around 430am++ to 6pm. Which equals to 1.5 hours of sleep. And tommorrow is my GCE "O" Level English Oral. AND the day after tommorrow is my prelims. What the heck? this skin infection could not have come at a worser time.

The worst thing is that I assumed that the marks of the skin infection would still be there in the morning when I woke up. I wanted to get an MC. But when I woke up, the whole thing was almost gone. I wanted to get an MC so that I could sleep and then study, but then in the end I could not. So finally I had to go to school. And I still have the infetcion now.. just residual though. i hope it doesnt flare up again.

This episode could not have come at a worser time. I hope I get better sleep today. I didnt even study today. Cause I had to sleep in the afternoon. What a waste of time. Anyway Nights. ><

Weekend

For all the disappointment that the Chinese "O" Level results brought in, my weekend wasn't too bad. Mostly because of the Planetshakers concert that I went to on Saturday night, and ya. However, of course, the memory of the results kept bugging me throughout - it can't be helped. Besides all the people at the tagboard encouraged me [thanks you guys (:] there were others; in particular Natasha, JL/W, etc, which I owe my thanks to. Other than the small bit of fun in the Planetshakers concert on Saturday, I think my weekend was on the whole quite boring. I didn't do much but mooch around and study. Planetshakers was okay but I wasn't really in the mood to Jump Around (as expected, since the bad news of the results set in.) But I also met my best primary school friends at the concert too; Lionel and Mark. Havent seen them in a long time since the guitar lessons ended. For xp, it was since their stayover at our place. (an even longer time.)

Anyway Im really bored of studying. Prelims is a mere 3 days away and I don't feel like thinking about it but it can't be helped. I need to get through it well or Im gonna be in some deep trouble. Cause I seriously need to go to the 3-month-JC course.

By the way my DSA (Direct School Admission) attempt failed. Lol. ACS (I) wrote back a reply saying that there was quite an overwhelming response to only 28 places and that they were sorry and I should try again in the PAE (I think its PAE, Prelims Admission Exercise) scheme. Well I don't think I will.. lol. See how. Anyway its highly unlikely that ill opt for IB now.

Oya. Cut hair today, cause I have no choice as its getting irritating. My hair was cut by a newbie at the hair shop or hair salon or whatever you call it. And since he was a newbie he was very enthuiastic about cutting hair and making a good impression. And so he tried to style my hair (what the heck) which is actually hopeless and then I had to waste time with what kind of styling thingummys (I know he had a good intention though) and then I think he sort of failed. Cause you know my hair is the nutty mushroomy type and he tried to make it stylo milo by spraying alot of water and styling it to the right (or was it left?) until I looked like some kind of pin up doll and I felt absolutely lame. (I don't blame him though.) I think it was a failure. When I went home I immediately bathed and got rid of it.. so now my hair looks um, normal, I guess. A strange adventure indeed.

Tommorrow is just another typical day. I think Im going to sleep now. : S

What a Disappointment.

Results for GCE Chinese "O" Level Examinations were released today. It is an utter disappointment. Yes I passed. But barely; C6. That is like a damn horrible grade because I was like trying for at least a B? And Im the lowest in the class (besides another guy.) Nobody failed. But my class did not do well either. Only 5 people are confirm not re-taking and the rest are confirm re-taking. Many people were disappointed. I don't think I want to elaborate on the situation then any further. But Im sort of like in trouble. Because I am only taking 7 subjects, Chinese is now like, confirm out. So the other 6 need to score like crazy otherwise Im going to be in some serious trouble. And my prelims is just a mere 5 days away and I havent even study finish. This is some serious setback.

The silver lining on the cloud is that I finally managed to get an A2 for CCA points. This means I am able to minus the full 2 marks from my L1R5 regardless if I go to that JC for the 3-month-stint or not. But its still important that I get into a JC for the first 3 months, otherwise Ill be behind in syallabus when it comes.

Unfortunately this untimely and major disappointment this will definitely affect my mood when I go for the planetshaker's concert tmr. Im not the type who can just sleep one night and forget everything.. especially when its O level major stuff.

Anyway this is just damn sad. Im going to sleep now; I just finished tuition. I must try to make sure this doesn't affect my revision. Nights.

The Day After.

Nothing much happened today. I was supposed to have piano lesson in the morning but then the teacher suddenly suffered from a bout of severe migraine, and so it was cancelled. Then I spent much of the morning packing my table and slacking here and there. In the afternoon Jonk and company came and so I just played around until 6pm. Then I studied some chemistry and then am now typing this.

Tommorrow I think Im getting back my Chinese GCE "O" Level Examination results and I am quite nervous, since my chinese is (quite obviously) poor. Ill think Ill already be happy with a B3 lor. Anyway I also think Im not going to Samuel's cell group tommorrow, even though I do not have EPP. Its cause I have to come home and study. With the prelims less than 7 days away, and I have not even revised, I seriously need some serious studying. (I have not started studying 4 out of 7 subjects. I have sort of roughly completed 1 subject, A Maths, but it needs waaay more practice.) I think Ill join after my prelims. As some know, our school is one of the earliest schools in Singapore to start prelims so early - 16th August, English Main Paper, then choing all the way (everyday got at least one paper in School for Sec 4 students) until the start of the September Hols. Just to give you an idea of how early our school Prelims is - I heard from Mr Teo (my tuition teacher) that one of his student's prelims starts almost 1 month after mine. (Mine would have already been completed by then.) Most schools start around 25th August there I think, from what I hear. (Also from Mr Teo.) So 16th August is super early.

So I think Ill have to go home and study tmr, and then after that got tuition (as usual) from 8pm - 1030pm+. I have finally decided Im cutting my hair on Sunday afternoon. And then I have that Planetshaker's concert that I have to go to on Saturday, after Band Practice. Then, after one more week, is the dreaded prelims. Essential indeed. I must be eligble to go for the 3-month JC stint in January. Guess Im going to sleep now.

National Day, 9th August. + Animal News.

Today is Singapore's National Day, but even though it was a public holiday, it can hardly be called a break for me. Woke up at 7am but then decided to go back to sleep. Then I had to go out with Uncle Weng Chee and Aunt Eve for breakfast, which was okay but was a bit blur blur. Came back to tuition for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours, and then had to study, since Im really behind in my revision for prelims.

The fun part of the day was at about 6:30pm when I finally finished my a maths paper and then went to east coast park to play some soccer with nats ken sam and quite some other people. Of course, I was late since I had to finish my a maths paper first before going, but the game was okay I guess. Then we had to go to Samuel's house for dinner etc, before we had a somewhat interesting discussion which I shall appropriately label "Qualities You Wish To See In Your Future Life Partner." And of course, even though some of us didn't say anything much, its quite expected that we have some basic citeria in our subconscious that we expect our future life partner to have. But the conversation was anything but serious although there were some serious stuffs scattered here and there. Michelle was more (if not the most) forthcoming although her face was somewhat red like a beetroot (okay Im exaggerating about the beetroot part. xD) . Natasha was quieter. I didn't say much really. XP the macho man said something along the lines of, "my future life partner cannot be so choosy and have so many citerias for the guy to meet" (apparently in reference to Mich). Samuel said the same thing and added some stuff which I can't really remember, because it was more humourous than serious. (if I rmb correctly.) Kenneth was playing with my handphone and appeared to shrug it off. Well anyway I think it was the first time that such a discussion took place with the adults lol. And for the people in sec school I think we should be thinking about O levels than looking for a life partner. (In essence, the truth is that when you look for a boyfriend/girlfriend, you are looking at a potential life partner. If you hold this view then it will save you a lot of trouble of skipping bfs and gfs here and there, seriously.) Anyway it was a strange discussion to have, whats more it was over some durians. It must be noted that most of the things said were humourous or in a humourous manner.

+++

Because of the lack of time, I have also not been blogging on the recent animal news. Just some days ago, my rabbit and dog both fell sick and had to be brought to the vet. They both had some kind of eye infection and the rabbit's one was apparently more severe, and it is still recovering now. (I think.) Its strange, because, Huiyi's hamster also died around the same time, and the Kenneth's parrot also died, apparently of internal bleeding due to banging its head too many times against the cage wall because it was afraid of being bathed. (This is according to Natasha and I think she said something like that but its not 100% sure cause I don't know if I heard correctly.) So its very strange that so many animals that I know either fell sick or died around this time. Sad actually. :/

Anyway today is National Day, and hopefully Singapore will continue to prosper and progress even as the world's conditions are deteriorating. (Just look at the current Middle East Crisis, the terror attacks, escalating oil prices, natural disasters - latest is some Maya volcano, and gobal warming etc.) It is important not only to Singapore, but to us Singaporeans, that we continue to prosper and live in a stable country. If Singapore was not prospering we would be in trouble now.

National Day Eve

Passing Out Parade

Today's the day of the Passing out Parade (for the various uniformed groups) and the NAS Fiesta. The Passing out Parade was okay. I don't really want to elaborate more.

Scouting - reflecting on my 4 years in it - it was a good experience. Its something that you don't like when you are suffering in camps and etc, but its a good experience after its over. Due to music and church commitments I wasn't as active as say, Desmond but still active overall I guess. Hopefully the next Venture crew will be better - I think this year's PLC overall are more committed than our batch. (e.g. Aetiqucaz, Pinky, Ody etc)

Fiesta

Fiesta (which was after POP) was okay, although I during the duration of the fiesta I practically spent all my time in the conference room pumping helium into balloons via two large helium cylinders. Ventures mainly did this. Then other Ventures (and some scouts like Pinky) would bring the balloons out to sell them. Anyway it was quite okay filling and distributing the balloons although I was very busy. Running around. After that just went home, and later on had tuition.

+++

On a side note. The parrot in Natasha's house which Uncle Choony had caught died. So sad. Also Chinese GCE "O" Level Examination results are out on Friday. Im damn scared that I get crappy results. And I haven't even study for Prelims finish. Its very pressurizing indeed. Tuition tommorrow again. Hopefully I can at least grasp everything in time.

2 Weeks to Prelims

Haven't blogged for six days until today, and it's quite a boring week. On Thursday my CCA teacher went and talked to Mr. Wong about Desmond's and my CCA points. (Personally, I think it would be called an argument rather than a talk, though.) I managed to raise my CCA points from 15 to a 19 - but it might as well have not been raised at all; I still fail to minus the maximum 2 points from my L1R5 score. I now need to gain one more point within these two weeks or my CCA record will be permenant. Its disappointing but not as disappointing as Desmond's; he failed to gain any more points. I myself need to crack my brains and think of some more activities that I participated in and is not in the CCA record. And actually, there are many. But the thing is the so-called "CCA syallabus" does not accept these activites, which is extremely annoying. (E.g. Desmond went to overseas scout and guides Jamborees and didn't even get a single CCA point from them because Jamborees were not counted under the syallabus.) It is also a pain for my CCA teacher to have to go and talk to Mr. Wong again to increase my scores. Im very grateful for his efforts. I think Ill have to go and see how I can gain that 1 point.

As for this week, there is nothing much to talk about. Since the exams are getting closer and closer each day, I become more and more busy and in the end nothing really happens. Today's POP practice was okay. The actual Passing out Parade is next week. Then its "chionging" for "O"s and prelims and etc.

Tommorrow I don't know if Jonathan is coming to our church for Youth Group. Hopefully he comes, its good to have a change. And hopefully the new Youth Pastor is good. Her "debut" is tommorrow. Also, I actually don't want to go to the Planetshakers concert since concerts are " a waste of time" but in the end since everyone went I think Id spoil it if I didn't, so I decided Im going. And also my hair is getting very long and I think the teachers will complain soon, but I can't be bothered to cut it.. (cutting hair is a waste of time. sigh. But I think Ill have no choice soon. And I know its important to be hygenic etc etc.) Anyway Im going off to sleep now.

Html is (or can be) Maddening

Well I wanted to type a post commenting on Jonathan's crapping but unfortunately, because of some cruel problem in the world of hypertext markup language (html - the basic things that make up any webpage), it was not possible. I spent the whole day (Saturday) pouring over my blog template trying to solve the problem, checking help sites and my posts itself, and tested the video on other blogs.. all to no avail. =.= Its so annoying. And a complete waste of my time, unfortunately. So in the end I have decided that there's something wrong with this skin that I didn't know of previously, Im going to make a new one.. but it will be in a rush. Since Im super busy and have prelims and all the annoying stuff. And on Sunday I wasted enough time again by deciding to finish that new skin once and for all. And in the end the skin was not up to the standard and so I decided to delete all of my work and start again slowly. So I hope the next one will be good enough.

Anyway I just finished tuition and am now typing in this entry. Tommorrow there is some crappy social studies workshop, which in my opinion, is a total waste of time (again) - I admit Im biased since I havent even been to the workshop yet but due to past experiences I think that this will be just some workshop that wont really help in your social studies.. it will just scratch the surface.. trying to explain to us how to explain skills that needed to be used in SS.. etc.. but anyway Ill just wait and see tommorrow what it will be like. Since jumping to conclusions is no good. Also, today's CCA meeting to discuss CCA points with Mr. Wong is cancelled. We'll be going tmr instead. And since its late.. Ill sleep now.. (havent really gotten around to study prelims yet.. Im in trouble ><)

The Last Week of July.

A few things happened in the past few days. I have not been blogging cause its quite busy but I think now I have a bit of time, so I can catch up somewhat.

The highlight of this week is me getting my CCA results back, and it was a huge disappointment - only 15 marks, a B4? There seemed to be a lot of errors, and I don't think my participation in my CCA was that low. I was expecting myself just to hit an A2, which would enable me to minus 2 points from my L1R5. On the bright side, though, my CCA teachers agreed to fight for me to get an A2.. together with Desmond, me and the teachers are going on Monday to see Mr Wong. It is unfortunate that the CCA teachers have absolutely no power in changing the records, or they would have already done so. Even so I don't think Mr Wong will agree. Unfortunate.

Today, we had the Passing Out Parade practice. It went pretty well.. although there were some major errors made by the band playing.. especially the rhythm. Mr Ong said he would have prefered that the band was replaced by more experienced players. I agree but it wouldn't be bad if the new players got some public exposure too. Anyway, it was okay.. not too bad. Also, I forgot to mention about the worship leading last Saturday.. well don't need to say much but I think I did the last song pretty bad. I would have prefered to sing lower but anyway its too late to change that now. At least the whole thing is over and done with though. It went okay.

And anyway my prelims is coming up in three weeks and I hope Ill be ready for it when it comes - Im not ready yet, if at all.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Birthdays and Etc

Just went to Ngee Ann Polytechnic (which is also the polytechnic that Nat is in) today, as part of a compulsory program on learning mathematics and fun learning, or something like that. Surprisingly the program was very interesting indeed, and the 4 1/2 hours there just passed very quickly, even though it was after school time already. For the first 50 mins, we had to take a Maths Proficiency Test. Which wass okay but still boring. However, the second segment of the program, which was a lecture, turned out to be pretty interesting. The lecturer was somewhat of a magician, demonstrating many happenings in daily life which related to physics laws. (i.e. magnetism, air pressure, etc) He even pulled a soft toy bunny out of a bunny hat, although that trick was pretty obvious to see-through. (The rest were not obvious. They were eventually expained by the laws of physics.)

Anyway, these few days, nothing much happened. I think there's not so much to write about in the average student's life. Although there are always exceptions, the routine is usually the same for me. Im not the type that goes out or stays behind in school almost every other day.

By the way, it seems very difficult for me to get more "streetwise". I think Im the one of the worst in these. It is a pain indeed, not knowing where to buy things, especially when I need them. It is already extremely inconvenient when it is something like a birthday present, but when it is highly urgent, the results can be disasterous. arghh. I think the only shopping district
that I am very familiar with is Shinjuku in Japan, Tokyo; since I always walked there last time, its totally embedded into my memory. I can remember it very, very well, and the place hasn't changed. But - its totally useless here.

And Ive been forgetting stuff like birthdays lately; even the cookies we baked on Michelle's birthday, that was because Natasha reminded me, and she also came over. I also forgot my father's birthday. I didn't even know it was my dad's birthday on Sunday (three days before today) until it was mentioned on the day itself in front of everyone in church. (Actually, I don't even know the date of my dad's birthday.) And I forgot my jie's (Huiyi's) birthday also until 1 day later after her birthday. Sorry people. Crap. I think Im in trouble. I suck at remembering things like birthdays. : ( Issit because when I was younger, esp. in Japan, birthday's were not given much emphasis? I can't remember celebrating any of our family's birthdays at all when we were younger. In conclusion, I think Id better put more effort in rmbing birthdays at least. If buying a present is difficult for me (it is, because I don't even know where to buy the present) at least Id better buck up and sincerely wish the person happy birthday (or whatever anniversary it is.) I have a natural tendency to forget anniversarys.

Well I think Id better go to sleep. Today come back from school so late cause of the Ngee Ann Poly thing. I hope practice on Saturday goes well and the worship leading. Not looking forward to it. Night, going to sleep.

Return Of The Pugilists - Campfire 2006

Finally, the campfire is over. Six months of preparation for just one night. Of course, most of the preparation was done by the leaders, scouts, guides etc.

Campfire was a pretty hectic time. On Friday I stayed back to 6:30 to help out with the structure,, and then left for tution from 8pm - 10:30pm+. The next day, I came back at 9am to 11:15am to help out again, and then left for music practice and youth at church until 5:30pm. Returned at 6pm for the campfire. And then during the campfire I ran around doing tasks until it was over, which was about 10pm. Thereafter, I stayed back to help with the cleaning up until 11:50pm, Saturday. And on Sunday had to wake up early to go rolc again... *.* no rest.. what a crazy schedule indeed.. madness. Super tired after coming home from church on Sunday. I went straight to sleep after reading the news. But the scouts who had to stay behind and dismantle the structure overnight are definitely worse off than I am.. but we all had to go through that when we were scouts.

Overall, things went pretty smoothly though. Unfortunately, during the campfire, there were several hickups.. firstly, although the light up to the fire was smooth, the fire almost died on us later and the fire squad had to go in and rekindle the thing.. secondly, the wires connecting to the lights broke, and there was temporarily no lights at all on the stage, until we found an extension cable, which took about 10 minutes. However, overall, it was a success. Kudos to Andrew (Sir) and the rest of the organising committee for pulling it off.

I am glad I took the time to finish all school homework on Friday, but I still have tuition homework to finish ><. I shall have to do it tommorrow, but tommorrow there is also GCE "O" Levels Chinese listening comprehension. If I sleep now I will not be tired during the exam.. so Id better sleep now. I dont want to fall asleep halfway..

The Art of Baking

Basically, the main event of last week was on Saturday where me xp and nat had to bake cookies for Michelle's birthday. It was Natasha's idea, since:

1. I do not know what are Michelle's fashion tastes.
2. I am not streetwise.
1+2 = I dont know what to buy and dont know where to buy.

Therefore the conclusion is the only viable option was Natasha's option; anyway I don't know where in the world to get earrings like some of the other presents given and whatnot.

Personally I did the baking as much for the experience since since we left Japan I don't bake bread or whatnot with my mother anymore and anyway I think we did help with some other cooking stuff after coming back from Japan but it was extremely rare.. so baking cookies would be good. Anyway they came out okay. For the "special cookie" we melted a sweet in the oven on top of the cookie, making it look disgusting but actually it tasted quite nice. (By the way, to all aspiring bakers, don't do that because if you put too much sweet on the cookie the fluid will boil in the oven and splatter in your oven.) Natasha is the expert cookie baker. But some cookies were still burnt. Natasha made the dough. We all did the styling, and juggled the dough in the air.. okay Im crapping. But the cookies turned out mostly fine.

Ok this week I have and had to stay back in school to help out in campfire preparations. On monday I started revision with Mr Teo. This was the first lesson that was dedicated all to revision. 7/7/2006 10:30pm is the time we completed all the learning of the subjects. Finally. No need to learn new things from the textbooks anymore; felt quite happy on that day we finally completed the last chapter. You get that feeling. Its cause my school Prelims start so early compared to others, 16th August. >< I wonder why. But earlier also can..

Saturday is the big day, the Campfire. But tmr will be a day of hard work. = ( Have to stay back in school to build all the structures and prepare for the campfire.. and in following days go back and forth from school. Can't be helped. My schedule is madness. Tommorrow's schedule: wake up, go school at 5:45am, classes to 1230pm, prepare for campfire until about 7pm+, tuition starts at 8pm - 1030pm. then at 1030pm I finally get a break.. how tiring. So Id better sleep now. : D

The 1st Week of July.

Now I finally find some time to summarise the events of the week.

Monday - Went with Natasha, Kenneth, Michelle, Jun Wen, Jun Lin to (unwillingly) to watch the movie "She's the Man" or something like that (I can't remember the title, is it He's the Man or She's the Man, anyway its a strange title), and ended up watching Superman Returns instead, because the tickets were out of stock. My lack of interest is that I can only remember the names of two characters in the movie, Superman and Clarke. (Who, in essence, is the same character anyway.) I can't even remember the bald villians name.

(Sincere) Thoughts on Superman Returns: From the eyes of a person who has only been in a cinema to watch a movie only 4 times in my 16 years of life (including this one), it is okay, but a bit boring - and 2 1/2 hours is really an eternity sitting there. Storyline is understandable, well made and deep enough. Appropriate humour at good times, and there were tense times, although I wasn't exactly as tense because of me almost always looking at my watch.. Actors played their roles pretty well.. but don't trust my shallow analysis because of my lack of knowledge in movies.. and Superman (or rather, his actor) is handsome enough. He must be, since I think I remembered that Michelle said that he was handsome but didnt like his hairstyle in the last scene. I was more interested in how the movie was made and the kind of computer graphics they use for all those strange crystals.. not hairstyles.. anyway : D

Tuesday - GCE Chinese "O" Level Oral... I flunked my passage for sure. I kept skipping here and there and repeating entire sentences. As for the conversation, it was okay, but I doubt Ill get high.. I think I will just pass for Oral. : ( Disappointing.

Wednesday, Thursday - Spent whole days just doing homework and several test papers that were supposed to be done during the holidays. Its completed now. Mostly. Oya. In the middle of doing the papers I was so bored that I decided to search for my name on google, friendster etc. Its the first time I ever did it, and very sad. I found like 20+ female Xiao Wens and only 2 male Xiao Wens. One of the males was from Raffles Institution I think. The other was some chinese professor with a personal website? I also found out that there were 2 chinese emperors named Xiao Wen during the Han Dynasty. ( I think.) But who cares.. I was bored. ><

Friday - Student Learning Festival. The same old booth and exihibitor.. I manned the 3D Vision booth again. With Vick and Desmond, although Desmond didn't do much, sadly. Rather irritated at first by this but anyway, it doesn't matter now.. I shouldn't be irritated over small matters.. Im trying not too.. and failing miserably. Some student councilors also had to play the role of guiding the primary schools around our school during the festival.. feel quite sorry for them - hmm. The primary school students seem hard to control. Probaly like us too.

After the SLF ended at 1130, I ate KFC with Vick and Mervyn and then went home, and then at 230pm went back to school again for scouts.. untied things for the Campfire coming up next week and sewed the banner with the help of other Ventures and Girl Guides, cause the banner was too large. And came home to tuition.

So thats the run down for this week.. Id say.. pretty unproductive, especially on Monday. : ( At least I finished all my work though so I can concentrate on studying.

Dining Etiquette and Fever

Sianz. Today woke up with a fever, weakness, headaches and aching. Probally because I have slept so late these few days trying to finish the English Essay on Teen Culture and the Direct School Admission Essay. Anyway I about finished these now already.

Today after school we had a complusory extra program, a dining etiquette class after school at a American Restruant. Unfortunately since I was also sick today I had absolutely no appeitite. And the etiquette thing was rather new and strange, cause its like you have to act all so formal - I won't elaborate on what things we learnt. Like, for example, if you fart during a business meeting they teach you what is the proper thing to do. And one more thing was you are supposed to partner with a girl (or anyone of the opposite gender, for that matter) during this class. Which is suay; but anyway in the end we ended up sitting in groups at tables so it wasnt too bad. (By the way the school booked the whole restruant for 2 hours minimum.)

The school actually spends so much money to feed us at a upper-medium class restruant for the sake of teaching us dining etiqutte. It was a five-course meal. Salad, then soup, then a huge chicken platter thing for everyone, then brownies and ice cream. All for the sake of teaching us dining etiqutte.. lol. Imagine the cost. It was a waste though. Cuz I was sick and didnt eat much at all. Also, today only my class and 4R1 went. Next week will be other classes, etc.

Anyway I guess Im going to sleep now. I need to rest. Fever still there, sadly. And the aching and weakness. : (

Back to School - Tommorrow

Schools back again = less blogging for me. So sad. Anyway today is the last day of the June holidays (if it could be called holidays lol) and like other students around Singapore Ill be going back too. Back to Flag Raising, Saying "good morning mr so and so" and etc. Which is okay, patriotic and polite actually, the bad part is just that its quite boring.. fortunately, we're finishing the syallubus so that I can finally concentrate on my revision. And I somewhat failed to complete my target for the June holidays, teme.

Ill be sorting out things tommorrow, finishing up my Direct School Admission Application, and packing, and catching up with some last minute homework and last minute studying for a test that is due on the first week of school. So hopefully Ill have time to blog.

Church camp was extremely fun, Port Dickson (after church camp) above average fun, and Joan caught a fever at P.D., which is very unfortunate cause it happened on a holiday. (Actually to me if you catch a fever its already unfortunate since fevers are nasty.) We witnessed some inexplainable physical healings such as arms growing out during the church camp, which is the first time I actually saw the thing growing out.. amazing, indeed.

Im typing this in a rush and don't exactly have time now but anyway, since when did I really have free time.. I can't really say Ive studied much during the hols, either.

I have to wear my tie to school tommrrow and so Im going to put it in my bag now - I suddenly remembered. Night and hopefully everything goes smoothly tmr.

. . . (dot dot dot)

. . .

I don't exactly mean to whine but Im going to Malaysia on the 19th of June. And then, on the 22nd of June, travelling further up into Malaysia for an extended trip that is not part of the church camp. Unfortunately, the worst thing happened. Natasha-Kenneth-Michelle-Samuel are not, repeat, not following us to Malacca. That means after the church camp we have to spend an additional 3days & 2nights up in Malaysia with (virtually) no good, or at least, well-known friends. The rest will make their way back to Singapore. Yup I know I should look on the bright side and stop complainin but anyway, its still a bit disappointing. Anyway at least Im not complaining much in Real Life. No point, and complaining is not good anyway.

At first I thought they were going up north with us, and then suddenly Uncle Choony changed his mind about going. And by that time it was also too late to cancel xp's and my reservations.

So sad. What are xp and me supposed to do in the further days of the trip now : ( I guess Ill bring my studies up to Malacca and study.

Study for prelims. Which is in 2 months time. Oh, the "sad" life of a student. lol. (Granted, perhaps working life + army may be 100 times worse.. so perhaps I should be happy in a sense. Since I prefer student life.)

+++

On a side note, xp and me fetched Natasha from the BBQ today late at night on Nats, Pearlyn-sama and Choony-sama's (request? because it was late at night) and we almost had 2 accidents while cycling back from east coast on the roads. Fortunately nothing happened.. although we got a scare. Nats almost got knocked down by a car.. anyway, everything went fine.

Anyway im going to sleep. I have tuition early tommorrow morning. Its on Carboxylic acids, Amaths Kinematics + Relative Velocity. Zzz. Im still stuck doing Alkane and alkene homework.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lunartwilight-.blogspot.com/2006/06/dot-dot-dot.html' title='. . . Anyway, over the past few days, they have at least, finished all the major drilling up of the floor in the house, and started relaying the new tiles on the floor. I bet you can't even imagine how it looks like. Its extremely dusty. Over the next few days the whole family has to clean up the whole house. It'll start tommorrow. I hope we get over it quick, cause I sure can't study in this kind of messed up enviroment. [ How spoilt :( ] Lol, actually no, because I can't even get to my books, so how to study.

For some reason Im not feeling to well these few days, even feel a bit sick. Hope it gets better soon too. Anyway since its the holidays, I thought to myself, why not take up another new anime series since I have more time; so I chose Ouran High School Host Club. Unforuntately, its the most funny anime every created, and so I have to keep watching. That means I have to re-arrange my already sad schedule, and drop the highly disappointing Soul Link series. Oh, but its worth it. (At least I think so.) Ouran High School Host Club is highly original. If you watched it you'll see, and in fact you can download the 1st episode here from my server which I uploaded just today (Truth is, Im actually uploading it for Kenneth, who insists. Lol.) The part about coffee is the most hilarious. Anyway, if one is seriously crazy enough to watch it, then one better watch it with a light heart and not when their face looks like a thunderstorm, or they won't be able to enjoy it. And don't let the first few words of the opening song put you off.

Oya, Im somewhat behind scehdule for studies, sadly. And this week I have also got Lee Chai Noi's class, meaning I must go back to school, its really depressing. If I went back for say, Mr Alvin Tan's lessons, I wouldnt mind. But of all things, the only 2 days that I have to go back this June (Its a miracle, isn't it? lol ), has to be LCN's class. :(

Finally.

I finally finished this after a days work!

Phew. Anyway, there is actually nothing to write about today since I was doing the blog from start to end. The drilling was a better today, because they were not using the big drill. They also started laying the tiles for the floor.

I think I have to go to Natasha's house to study again on Friday, when they bring in the big drill again to drill up the floor of the house. If I stay, the noise will be absolutely unbearable. :( And there is dust all over the place.

On a side note, I can't wait for church camp.
